There are going to be some MAJOR changes here at The Double Pawn. As you know, the site is currently using a Content Management System (PHP Nuke). This system gives us a lot of functionality, the down side is that it takes more time to administer (something that I have less and less of these days). Also, the primary developer of the Chess program that this site uses no longer supports Nuke. I do not want to continue to redevelop the code to run wi

Puzzle of the Day is impossible

Whenever I start trying to solve the puzzle of the day I know I have a time limit since the page auto refreshes and brings me back to the top of the page. My only hope is to take a screen shot and put it into MS Paint and figure it out there.

I know the in game site refreshes automatically as well unless you have your cursor inside of one of the chat boxes. Then it won't refresh since if it did you would lose what you are trying to type. Is there a way to implement something like this near

Game Reset

I find it a bit difficult to support any of these options. I believe that in most online communities the idea of resetting a game that can theoretically continue indefinitely without any major issues is frowned upon. There are a couple of political/war games I play online and everyone knows that their nations have grown well beyond what the game was originally programmed for yet the idea of resetting the game or even majorly retooling the game is strongly resisted.

The reason I believe rese

A classic mistake, underestimating.

Descriptive Thematic Openings

When you go to challenge someone the Thematic drop down list is very descriptive in that it shows the name of the opening and the moves that go with it. When you go to Create/Join Game and want to make your own the Thematic drop down just shows the name of the opening. It would be nice if this list was as descriptive as the first one mentioned.

Where did you get started with chess?

I knew of chess back from grade school but never really got into it much. Checkers was my game back then. In my schools checker tournament about 10 people showed up and ended up drawing in the championship match. After checkers got boring I pretty much steered away from all board games for a long time.

Two years ago I was reintroduced to chess while at work. One of my co-workers brought in a chess board and asked me to play against him. Just out of curiosity I decided to play a game and

Using this site can help you learn to play some of the more common and well thought out openings that chess geniuses have discovered. Learning to play a proper opening can greatly enhance your game and hopefully help you become a better chess player as well since you will lea
